Blue Violet Prayers is about love, joy, light and prayers...
Fiber artist, painter, teacher and Jesus follower... Carol’s work begins with simple encounters in nature, scripture and watercolor or oil pastel sketches. A colorful palette of silk and linen threads interwoven with lots of prayer bring the vision to life. Beginning as a painter, fiber captivated and led her to fiberart. Carol creates tapestries that tell stories about light, color, joy and hope through abstract, symbolic impressionistic imagery.
The symphony of color, light and sounds at sunrise and sunset, water reflections and ripples, rocks, flowers, the light and colors that only God can create in the sky as well as the truth and love letters I find in His Word all are sources of my inspiration and vision. Interwoven threads and color bring my vision to life. Painting and drawing were my focus when I began my journey as an artist but while studying art in the process of getting my Bachelors of Fine Arts, I discovered weaving, paper-making and mixed media fiber art. It was there I found my voice.
An artist and teacher for most of my life I’ve had the joy of nurturing the creative spirit in young children, youth and adults. Though I loved being a teacher and nurturing other’s creativity, and still do a bit of teaching, I’m spending more time now as a “maker”, sharing the voice and vision God has given me to create art and loving this new season of life.
In the Prescott, Arizona area you can find me teaching tapestry weaving at Fiber Creek. Also, visit my studio during the Prescott Artist’s Studio Tour the first full weekend of October each year.
